As the new year begins I start preparing my list of 2024 Health Goals.
It’s a common tendency for us to approach New Year’s enthusiastically and dedicate ourselves to making new resolutions wholeheartedly. When we don’t see tangible results after a few days of consistent efforts, however, our motivation dwindles and ultimately relinquishes.
What’s the solution to this? Well, primarily we need to acknowledge that there are no quick fixes. It sounds cliche but we all inherently understand that lasting results need a deliberate and sustainable approach.
The key to the pursuit of good health is setting realistic and achievable goals which will be the first step toward a healthier and more fulfilling life.
Here are some insights below that played a significant role in accomplishing my goals. Consider incorporating these into your journey towards achieving your new year goals as this might offer you valuable guidance in sailing to your success.
Mindful Eating
One of the foundations of a healthy lifestyle is mindful eating habits. Engage all your senses during meals and experience the taste and the aroma to enhance satiety for a balanced and nourishing experience. Indulge in wholesome foods and consider complex carbs. Satisfy your sweet craving with natural sugars like fruits and incorporate proteins into every meal of your diet. Intermittent fasting worked wonders for me with 8 hours of eating window and 16 hours of fasting, although everyone should tailor their diet plan according to individual needs.
Morning Routine
Start the day with a morning exercise routine tailored to individual fitness goals. If aiming for weight loss, incorporate weight training and cardio in your daily regime. Another great choice is to include walking and jogging in your routine. If time is the main constraint, another excellent option is to practice yoga at home: a set of 10 sun salutations will not only meet the need for complete body exercise but can be a good arrangement for a busy schedule. Find an activity you genuinely enjoy like dancing which is another excellent option if that gives you joy. Once the initial goals are met, gradually increase the intensity to make an active lifestyle an integral part of your life.
Focus On Mental Health & Physical Health
Humanity has experienced countless challenges in the past few years due to Covid. Many of us still struggle with the persistent pain of losing loved ones during those devastating times and find it difficult to overcome the trauma. Let us prioritize mental health and self-care in 2024 by incorporating activities like yoga, meditation, and yoga nidra, as well as activities that captivate you. Seeking professional help will be beneficial if needed. Along with mental health, it is pivotal to be attentive to physical health by getting routine checkups and being proactive about your health which can prevent major issues.
